Christian Horner has been sacked as CEO of the Red Bull Formula 1 team with immediate effect. He was replaced by Racing Bulls team principal Laurent Mekies. Horner’s departure comes after a general downturn in the team’s performance over the past 18 months, with Red Bull currently in fourth place in the constructors’ world championship for the 2025 season. Despite Max Verstappen winning several races, the team has been on a downward trend since McLaren caught up with them last year. Red Bull has also lost key personnel to other teams, raising questions about the future of star driver Verstappen and his contract until 2028.
